Zonare Medical Systems, a developer of portable ultrasound products, is to receive a further $34m in financing from one of its initial investors, Earlybird Venture Capital. This latest round of financing would boost the total amount of financing raised by Zonare, formerly known as Novasonics, to $92.9m. Zonare's zone sonography platform is designed to offer solutions for a wide variety of imaging needs in general imaging, obstetrics, gynaecology, cardiology, vascular and other emerging ultrasound applications. According to the Mountain View, California firm, the worldwide ultrasound market is expected to exceed $3.6bn in 2004.
