French government rejects six out of seven PET scanner applications:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

The French health ministry has rejected six out of seven applications by hospitals wishing to install PET scanners, according to the latest decree listing decisions on high-tech equipment and hospital extensions. The ministry agreed to all the applications for the extension of medical facilities, and also to the replacement of extracorporeal blood circulation units in all three hospitals that applied in this latest round of requests, but granted the only authorisation to install a PET scanner to a healthcare co-operative that wished to share the scanner. The applications that were rejected were all from single hospitals. The decree was published in the Journal officiel on December 17.
