Executive Summary
Materna, the Argentine internet-based forum of information on pregnancy and infancy care, has doubled its membership during 2005, to more than 60,000. Materna has emerged as an influential presence in the country's antenatal and postnatal markets, offering a potential opening for medical technology companies. At the end of 2004, it claimed it had attracted more than 25,000 members within 18 months of being established and the backing of "associate brands" from pharmaceutical and domestic goods companies (see Clinica No 1145, p 10). Earlier this year, it said it expected to grow to 120,000 members by the end of 2006.
