Executive Summary
Improving the early diagnosis of HIV-AIDS is one of the priority areas of Ghana's national multi-sectoral programme, which has just been awarded a US$20m grant by the World Bank. The funding is aimed at controlling transmission among vulnerable groups and curbing further spread of the disease. While focusing on cutting HIV transmission, the programme is also seen as critical to achieving a reduction in the incidence of sexually-transmitted infections (STIs) generally.
