Executive Summary
Renzo Tani began a one-year term as president elect of the International Electrotechnical Commission on January 1 2004. He is scheduled to begin a three-year term of office as IEC president on January 1 2005. At present he is president of Siemens Finanziaria and past president of ANIE (the Italian Federation of Electrotechnical and Electronic companies). He has been a member of the latter since 1974. The commission has also appointed Frank Kitzantides as chairman of the standardisation management board and vice-president of the IEC for a three-year term, effective January 1 2004. Mr Kitzantides is a vice-president of the US National Committee of the IEC and chairs its technical management committee.
