Executive Summary
The Scottish Executive is providing £1.5m ($2.7m) specifically to update dentistry facilities and invest in new equipment. NHS Boards are being invited to bid for the extra funding, which is being made through the Primary Care Modernisation Fund. It brings the total investment in NHS dentistry since 2002 to over £10m. But deputy health minister Tom McCabe recognises that the latest funding is no more than "a step in the right direction - not a solution", he said, referring to the ongoing consultation on modernising NHS dentistry in Scotland.
