Manufacturers of medical devices have just under nine months to ensure that they are in compliance with the latest version of the international quality system standard for medical devices, ISO 13485:2003. Certificates based on the previous version, ISO 13485:2000, will no longer indicate compliance with the Medical Devices Directive as of July 31 2006, COCIR, the European association representing manufacturers of electronic and electromedical devices reminds industry in its latest newsletter.
