Canada's Newfoundland & Labrador provincial government has pledged Can$6.7m (US$5.6m) to construct a new health clinic in the town of Grand Bank on the Burin Peninsula. It will provide basic outpatient services, with a laboratory and X-ray services. Efforts are being made to improve health facilities on the peninsula. In July this year, Can$1.05m was invested in a new CT scanner to serve the more than 23,000 residents in the area.
