Executive Summary
Singapore hopes to boost local medtech research and development with the launch of a new scheme, the Medtech Concept Initiative. The Economic Development Board's biomedical sciences group (BMSG) has partnered with Nanyang Polytechnic (NP) to build upon the 2003 BMSG's proof-of-concept (POC) initiative. This encouraged projects that showed promise of developing into start-up businesses by providing them with research funding of up to S$300,000 (US$ 177,000). In addition to these funds, eligible projects under the new scheme will benefit from NP's existing infrastructure and resources.
