Executive Summary
Australia has pledged Aus$292m (US$221m) in a first round of funding for medical research to commence in 2006. In all, 600 projects will be conducted across 52 institutions, including universities, hospitals and medical research institutes. Some of the projects relevant to medical technology include: prostate cancer outcomes study; study on cervical health; developing a new patient-centred adverse event reporting tool; and a follow-up of the International Breast Cancer Intervention Study (a prevention trial for women at high risk).
