Executive Summary
Bedford, Massachusetts-based digital imaging systems developer Hologic has completed its acquisition of intellectual property rights to Fischer Imaging's mammography business and products. Hologic paid $32m in total for the rights to Fischer's SenoScan digital mammography and MammoTest stereotactic breast biopsy systems. Around $27m of the purchase price was paid in cash and $5m was through the cancellation of an outstanding loan between the two companies. The acquisition is part of Hologic's drive to expand its market share in women's health and strengthen its position in the mammography market.
