Executive Summary
New Zealand's Ministry of Health will conduct its first symposium on Screening to improve health: challenges and opportunities on October 3 and 4 at Te Papa, Wellington. The meeting will address current and future challenges before screening in terms of practice and policy. Topics will include: breast cancer screening - current issues; future cervical screening issues; screening in 20 years/horizon scanning; antenatal and newborn screening; stages of screening policy development; genetic screening; reducing inequalities in screening programmes; economics and screening; and societal costs of screening.
