Executive Summary

Broadening its portfolio of acrylic intraocular lenses (IOLs), Advanced Medical Optics (AMO) has received US approval to sell its Tecnis IOL for cataract patients. The foldable device is scheduled for release in the US and Europe in September 2005. Santa Ana, California-based AMO says it is the only company to market IOLs with a claim approved by the FDA for improved functional vision and reduced spherical aberration.
