The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine has appointed Joshua Copel as president-elect. Over the next six years, the head of perinatology at Yale Medical School (Connecticut), will first serve as president-elect to 2007, then president to 2009, and immediate past president to 2011. The Laurel, Maryland-based association for the advancement of safe and effective ultrasound practice also appointed Diana Strickland, of the Brody School of Medicine (North Carolina), as second vice-president. Dr Brian Fowlkes, of Michigan University's department of radiology, is the new secretary.
