French reimbursement commission tasks set out

Executive Summary
June 30 saw the somewhat belated publication in the French Journal officiel of the Decision setting out the rules of modus operandi of the French Supreme Healthcare Authority (HAS), which began operations on January 1. The Decision sets out the role of the commission responsible for the evaluation of products and service (CEPP). This is one of seven commissions within HAS answerable to the management board, or college. The Decision confirms that the CEPP is responsible for deciding which products should appear on the list of reimbursable products and procedures. Its remit covers single-use medical devices, human tissues and cells, and all other healthcare products other than medicines, and procedures with which they are associated. For more details on the role of HAS and CEPP, see the Clinica Review of 2004.
