Executive Summary

Becton Dickinson has agreed to sell its Mountain View, California-based Clontech business, which makes biological products for the life science market as part of the group's BD Biosciences division, to Takara Bio, of Otsu, Japan. Becton Dickinson announced its intention to sell the Mountain View, California business in October 2004. Takara Bio will pay $60m, or about the same as Clontech's fiscal 2004 revenues. The transaction is expected to close by August 2005.
