Executive Summary
Ireland's Health Service Executive is to get Euro564m ($680m) for its capital investment programme in 2005. Health minister Mary Harney has approved the funding as part of the Euro3.3bn national capital investment framework for 2005-09. Of this, Euro275m has been earmarked for public-private partnership (PPP) projects over the five-year period, in a bid to "encourage further innovation and complementary roles for private finance". The government is pledging a "speedy implementation" of each of the projects identified by the HSE and to work with it to ensure accurate and cost-effective needs assessments.
