New centre to bolster Manitoba cardiac equipment drive:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Manitoba has invested Can$9.5m (US$7.5m) to construct a state-of-the-art cardiac care centre at St Boniface Hospital. Facilities will include: cardiac catheterisation labs, suites for echocardiography, electrocardiography and nuclear machine, pacemaker clinic, a cardiology in-patient unit and general cardiology clinics. The investment is part of a Can$22.5m cardiac services enhancement plan developed in 2000 and also acts upon a 2003 review of the province's cardiac programme, which advised investment in equipment (a heart lung machine, telemetry and monitors and graft-harvesting equipment) to consolidate St Boniface Hospital's cardiac surgery programme.
