The US FDA has cleared for sale Swissray International's direct digital radiographic system for use in emergency and trauma settings. The ddRCombi Trauma system allows traumatised patients to be imaged from head to toe without having to be moved. It features a fixed table with elevating base, a four-way floating tabletop for flexible positioning, and automatic positioning of the detector for cross table imaging, which is controlled by a single button on a wireless handheld remote control. ddRCombi Trauma has full remote monitoring capabilities, the Elizabeth, New Jersey firm said. Swissray will begin fully commercialising the system in August 2005.
