Executive Summary

UK researchers have begun a clinical trial to compare stenting with balloon angioplasty in patients with superficial femoral artery (SFA) occlusions caused by peripheral artery disease. The SUPER study is a 12-centre, 150-patient, prospective trial that will compare the patency rate one year after treatment with either Cordis Endovascular's Smart nitinol self-expandable stent or with angioplasty.
