Executive Summary
Roche Diagnostics has CE-marked for sale in Europe three new PCR-based tests for quantifying HIV-1, hepatitis C, and hepatitis B viruses in plasma. The fully automated, real-time tests are expected to help optimise management of antiviral therapy in patients in a more effective and individualised manner, says the Basel, Switzerland-based firm. The tests will be run on Roche's Cobas AmpliPrep instrument for sample preparation and either the Cobas TaqMan analyser or COBAS TaqMan 48 analyser for amplification and detection.
