Executive Summary
Cancer diagnostics is one of the top priorities of the Wales Cancer Institute (WCI), which was officially launched last week. This "virtual institute" will help to co-ordinate the research of scientists and clinicians - notably in Cardiff, Swansea and Bangor - and will have a role in attracting greater investment for cancer R&D in the principality. A key element of this network will be the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) in Swansea, which opened last month (see Clinica No 1140, p 7).
