Executive Summary
Swedish IT and medical technology company Sectra Imtec has signed a 10-year exclusive deal with Philips Medical Systems to support the implementation of the NHS' National Programme for IT (NPfIT), across the London regional cluster. The deal involves Sectra subcontracting its Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) software to Philips for delivery across the region's more than 40 hospitals, under a separate agreement between British Telecom and Philips. "This is a good opportunity for Sectra, [but] it is up to each hospital to decide if and when to invest in PACS, so there are no guarantees as for volumes," said Staffan Bergstrom, Sectra's vice-president for marketing of the SKr495m ($71.2m) turnover company.
