Amersham swells GE Healthcare Q4 profits

Nine months after completing the acquisition of UK life science and diagnostic imaging agent group Amersham, GE Healthcare has reported a 50% rise in fourth-quarter profits. The business unit, one of nine (out of a total of eleven in the GE group) to generate double-digit earnings growth, reported a profit of $860m on sales of $4.3bn (+28%). For the full year, sales were up by 32% to $13.5bn while earnings rose 34% to $2.3bn.
