Executive Summary
Swaziland's first medical centre dedicated to paediatric HIV/AIDS care is being built in Mbabane. Construction of the centre began officially last week, in a high-profile event attended by Prime Minister Absalom Themba Dlamini and health minister Chief Sipho Shongwe. It is due to open in December 2005. The centre is being funded under Bristol-Myers Squibb's $120m Secure the Future programme, which was established with the aim of supporting HIV care of women and children in sub-Saharan Africa, where there is an estimated 1.9 million HIV-infected under-15s.
