French firm BMD (BioMedical Diagnostics) has CE-marked for sale in Europe an automated module for preparing test samples for autoimmune disease diagnosis. Called Caris (carrier for assay reagents and immuno samples), the module has been incorporated into the firm's high throughput diagnostic system, Fidis FPX. Caris fully automates the preparation process including sample identification, dilution, dispensing and wash steps. Users merely insert the reaction plate into the Fidis system to begin high throughput analysis of the samples, said the Marne-la-Vallee, greater Paris firm.
