Executive Summary
The proposed EU directive regulating mercury in non-electrical measuring instruments, including medical devices, will enter into a second reading at the European Parliament early in 2007. It will not be assimilated into the REACH chemicals safety that was finally adopted on December 18, despite fears that this could happen and undo all the progress that has been made so far on the proposed regulation.
