Spanish COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder) experts highlight need for portable equipment:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

There is significant potential for increased use of portable oxygen therapy equipment in Spain, suggests data presented by the national chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) association, AEPOC. Only one in 10 of the country's 60,000 (115 per 100,000 population) COPD patients receiving oxygen therapy use a portable device, claims leading pneumologist Salvador Diaz Lobato, of Madrid's Ramon y Cajal hospital. He was speaking at a seminar held last week in co-operation with AEPOC to highlight COPD patient needs in relation to maintaining a normal lifestyle. Many patients are said to be unaware of the applicability of portable equipment to their condition.
