Executive Summary
IntrOp Medical has expanded its presence in Asia with the sale of its first Mobetron electron beam system in China. The Sunnyvale, California-based company sold the system to Beijing Tumor Hospital, part of Beijing University Medical Center. The Mobetron, which costs in excess of $1m per system, is used to perform intraoperative electron radiation therapy (IOERT), and can be easily transported from one operation room to another without being restricted to a radiation-shielded surgical suite. This Chinese order brings the total number of Mobetron systems sold worldwide to 19. The device has been installed in hospitals across Europe, the US and Japan.
