Japanese regulators have approved for sale PLC Systems' first-generation CO2 heart laser (HL1) device for treating angina. The transmyocardial revascularisation (TMR) product will be distributed in Japan exclusively by Tokyo-based Ktec, which will this year begin the process of establishing the TMR market through hosting educational seminars, attending scientific trade shows and conducting training events. Currently, Ktec has 12 HL1s in Japan, which it purchased in the mid-1990s. Ktec has over 20 sales people in Japan and can sell the HL1 immediately, said Franklin, Massachusetts-based PLC Systems.
