Executive Summary
Hospitals run by non-governmental organisations in South Africa's Gauteng province will cease to admit TB patients as from April 1 2006. Patients with the disease will now be treated only in hospitals that are government-administered or owned. The move, which health minister Brian Hlongwa described as being in line with the country's national health policy, aims to consolidate the treatment of TB in order to raise cure rates.
