Executive Summary
With the EU medical device directives currently under review, European medtech industry association Eucomed has just published a two-page Medical Devices Vademecum to explain to policymakers and other stakeholders the differences between medical devices and pharmaceuticals. The pocket-sized flyer highlights the differences in terms of product type, mode of action, innovation, maintenance, user education and training. It also touches on the fact that medical devices have shorter product life cycles and that regulation of the two sectors is very different.
