Executive Summary
The French health ministry has updated the list of products that are to be reimbursed separately to medical procedures listed under the diagnosis-related group (DRG) scheme. Normally, medical devices have to be funded from the pot of money allocated to a given medical procedure, but where devices are particularly high-tech and expensive, they are usually funded separately. The new list was published in the Journal officiel of February 28, and is aimed at bringing greater continuity between the public and private sector in terms of products that are reimbursed separately or "en sus", the ministry says. The new list replaces the one that was published on March 2005.
