Executive Summary

Cardiac Science has received US FDA 510(k) clearance to market its "crash cart" defibrillator-monitor designed specifically for use by medical professionals responding to cardiac emergencies in hospital settings. The product is lightweight, portable, rugged and easy to use, said the Bothell, Washington firm. It will be sold by GE Healthcare, which has already begun preparations for a worldwide launch. It will be sold in the US and Canada under Cardiac Science's Powerheart brand, and outside North America under GE's Responder brand. Initial shipments of the product are expected to take place during the second quarter of 2006.
