The US FDA has given Wright Medical Group 510(k) clearance to market its wear-reducing polyethylene liner for use with its Lineage acetabular hip system. The A-CLASS liner is produced with a proprietary crosslinking process that makes it significantly more wear-resistant than traditional Lineage polyethylene liners, thereby reducing the potential for dissolution of adjacent bone due to osteolysis, said the Arlington, Tennessee firm. Tests have shown that the product reduces wear debris by up to 94%, when compared with current Lineage polyethylene liners.
