Executive Summary
The UK's National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is expected to issue its final appraisal document (FAD) on the use in the NHS of coronary drug-eluting stents in late December, Clinica has learnt from sources involved in the appraisal. The process was delayed to enable consultees to consider additional information related to the economic analysis used by NICE in assessing the cost-effectiveness of using DESs to treat coronary artery disease. NICE recommended against using the technology in all but a very small proportion of cases.
