Executive Summary

Barry Caldwell has been announced as president, CEO and a member of the board of STAAR Surgical, a developer, manufacturer and marketer of minimally-invasive ophthalmic devices based in Monrovia, California. Mr Caldwell joins from medical products firm IRIDEX, where he served in the same capacities. Mr Caldwell replaces David Bailey who will assume the role of president, international operations and will continue to serve on the board of directors. Mr Caldwell's 30 year career in the industry includes several senior positions at ophthalmic specialist Alcon Laboratories and as a director of US industry association AdvaMed.
