Delays in performing around a third of UK hip replacement operations are resulting in unnecessary deaths and highlight service capacity needs. So says the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) of the results of its audit of 8,800 hip, wrist, arm, pelvis or spine fracture cases, at 157 (91%) of the 173 hospital trusts in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
