Executive Summary
The UK's Infection Prevention Society (IPS) is being launched this week, with a view to providing a forum for all parties involved in preventing or controlling healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). The IPS emerges from the reformation of the 37-year-old Infection Control Nurses Association (ICNA). In its broader guise it will work with healthcare colleagues, professional bodies, industry, government agencies and voluntary organisations, said Judy Potter, ICNA chair and lead nurse/director of infection prevention and control at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust. The launch of the IPS takes place at the 37th annual ICNA conference, in Brighton, on September 26.
