Executive Summary
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has described as "minimal" the impact of restrictions imposed on the UK supply of medical devices containing UK-sourced animal tissue, in light of the current foot and mouth disease (FMD) outbreak. Restrictions do affect, however, the export of UK-sourced component materials. Details of the issues surrounding such devices and reagents were posted on the MHRA website on August 14, following "detailed discussions" with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
