Executive Summary
The US-based ASTM standards body (West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania) is developing a new standard to help device developers measure the stiffness and strength of vascular stents. "Radial stiffness of a stent is critical to its function of keeping the arteries open and eliminating abrupt closure," said the body's endovascular device specialist Kenneth Cavanaugh. Regulatory authorities will also be better able to evaluate stent designs with the new standard, WK15227. For details or comments, contact: [email protected]
