Executive Summary
Milan, Italy-based Sorin Group has further boosted its presence in the Japanese cardiology market by signing a ten-year partnership agreement with medical device distributor Japan Lifeline (JLL) to market its cardiac rhythm management (CRM) devices. JLL already distributes Sorin's Carbomedics heart valves. The partnership will become effective as of September 1 2007. By combining the sales efforts of its own Japanese subsidiary with that of JLL, Sorin hopes to increase its penetration of Japan, where over 50,000 pacemakers and 3,500 defibrillators were implanted in 2006.
