Executive Summary
Canadian products and expertise are to be tapped to complete a major, publicly-funded, Cairo-based paediatric oncology centre, the Children's Cancer Hospital Foundation 57357. The hospital, which is expected to be able to treat 1,800 of Egypt's annual 3,000 new cases in children under the age of 15, has partnered with Toronto-based healthcare company, Comprehensive Care International (CCI), to develop its patient care system. According to CCI, whose oncology services include equipment specification and procurement, and health IT, this will involve "capacity building" to support the provision of: intensive care and bone marrow transplant units; a tumour surgery department; speciality clinics (pain, cardiology, dental and ophthalmology); diagnostics and laboratory support; and a radiotherapy department.
