Executive Summary
A strategic alliance between a leading Chilean oral implantation centre and Trinon Titanium, a German R&D specialist in this area, has resulted in the development of a "low-cost, simplified design of oral implants". So said Dr Jorge Jofre, director of the Centro de Rehabilitacion Oral Avanzada e Implantologia (CRAI), based at the Chilean university of Concepcion, of plans to mass produce the implant and market it in Chile, Europe and Asia. The CRAI says that such plans have been enabled by an international collaboration that extends beyond its alliance with Karlsruhe-based Trinon, now involving the universities of Gothenburg (Sweden), Hiroshima (Japan), UCLA (US) and Illinois (US).
