China investigating product name issues:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Glucose test strips and condoms are among the medical devices whose "product classification and terminology" are under investigation in China. Problems are arising currently because manufacturers sometimes use a different name for the same product or family of products. This is causing misunderstandings among management bodies and users, Dr Zhixiu Yao of the China Association for Medical Devices Industry (CAMDI), told Clinica. The issue is described by Dr Yao as "an unsolved headache for the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA)". The matter has been under SFDA investigation since April 3.
