This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

A proposal by the US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to limit coverage of cardiac computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) to patients taking part in specific clinical trials has been dropped. The CMS said on March 12 2008 that no national coverage determination (NCD) on the use of CCTA for coronary artery disease (CAD) was currently -appropriate" and that coverage would continue to be determined by local contractors through the local coverage determination process, or through case-by-case adjudication.
