Executive Summary
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has begun to accept proposals for the next - eighth - funding round. The Geneva-based body is urging both government and nongovernmental organisations to propose projects that either target care of these diseases, or develop healthcare systems more generally. The deadline for round eight proposals is July 1 2008. Proposals are first screened for eligibility by the Global Fund's secretariat, then reviewed technically by an independent panel. The final decisions are due to be published in November 2008. An estimated $2bn is already available to support round eight.
