Executive Summary
Scotland's 14 NHS boards and eight special health boards are to directly receive a share of more than £8bn in 2008-09. The 3.3% increase - £256m - on 2007-08 takes the total healthcare budget to £10.65bn. All boards were given a basic 3.15% increase, but six that are deemed to have greater service development needs have been awarded up to a 3.8% increase. The NHS Scotland's resource allocation committee (NRAC) has yet to issue recommendations on how this additional funding should be allocated.
