Four in every 10 NHS maternity services in England do not perform the recommended range of antenatal ultrasound scans and nine in every 10 do not meet current guidelines on Down's syndrome screening. So says the Health Commission (CHAI), following a review of 148 trusts, assessing performance against 25 quality and safety indicators.
