"Lower-priority" R&D in UK savings firing line

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

The UK government has yet to decide how it will "reprioritise" Department of Health (DH) spending to meet planned homecare service needs, but "lower priority research" is being lined up as a leading savings target. Health minister Phil Hope told the House of Commons of the plans on October 27. "Decisions on reprioritisation have yet to be taken, but the DH is considering savings from lower use of management consultancy and advertising, and slower growth in lower priority research budgets," he said.
